2016 Woman of the Year - Dokpe Lillian Ogunsanya
Share |

At the EWTG Annual Conference in November, the Woman of the Year was awarded to Dokpe Lillian Ogunsanya. In honoring Dokpe this year, we celebrate her life and career journey that echoes the themes of transformation, service, growth and leadership. She has contributed her talents, strengths, and enthusiasm to EWTG for over 10 years. Our 2016 honoree is a model of public service, leadership, and mentorship. She has been an inspiration in shaping EWTG, her community and her work organizations in numerous positive ways.

Dokpe has over 10 years of state service working for the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services and the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts.

During her time with the State of Texas she became highly involved with EWTG. For more than 10 years she worked tirelessly to promote the mission, goals and vision of the organization. Over the years she has served on many committees and the board including Program Director, Membership Director, and Education Committee Chair. Some achievements under her leadership include increasing EWTG’s visibility into a high-profile entrepreneur network; growing attendance at EWTG luncheons; hosting workshop presentations at the EWTG Annual Professional Development Conference; heading a successful joint reception with the University of Texas at Austin’s LBJ Graduate School of Public Affairs to promote EWTG and re-launching the education program as an intimate cruise on Lady Bird Lake. It debuted as a self-funded program with profit and drew a record attendance of nearly 150 participants. All of her efforts have resulted in successfully recruiting over 100 new EWTG members.

Dokpe always prides herself as a EWTG member and represents the organization with dignity and professionalism. She carries EWTG applications with her whenever she attends professional gatherings to continue to recruit new members.

Professionally Dokpe started her own business in consulting and publishing, becoming a motivational speaker, life coach, consultant, author, and has been featured on television and in the newspaper. She has written several published articles and authored two books.

Her prestigious service includes touching the lives of others through programs such as the ATX Annual Evening Retreat and Networking Gala, which she began seven years ago. The event not only uplifts and empowers others, but she also uses the forum to promote, recognize and bring awareness to local non-profit organizations.

Another example of her commitment to helping others is her sponsorship of students internationally by hosting over 25 students from various parts of the world and their chaperons at her home consecutively for five years during the annual global summit held in Austin.

Dopke is very involved with the greater Austin Communities from the Great Hills of Westlake where her daughter was part of the school system, to Pflugerville where she resides with her husband; and East Austin where she serves her faith community actively in various leadership positions. She has served five years on Holy Cross Catholic Church‘s Leadership Council in an advisory position, a Chairperson of the Scholarship Committee and Co-Chair of the new Family Life Center.

Dokpe has distinguished herself as a developing and natural leader. Her genuineness, intelligence and integrity make her someone who can work and mobilize people from all walks of life. Dokpe is humble and considers herself an ordinary woman, but she is doing extraordinary things to empower women and make the world a better place. Please join us again as we congratulate your 2016 EWTG Woman of the Year, Dokpe Lillian Ogunsanya!
