EWTG Luncheon - January 28, 2015
Key Note Speaker:  Ann Kitchen, Austin City Council

 

 

 

The first 2015 EWTG Luncheon is scheduled for January 28, 2015.  The Monthly Luncheon meeting will feature, Ann Kitchen, Austin City Council, Place 5.  Ann is a member of the new 10/1 single member council districts for the city of Austin.  Ann will talk about collaboration strategies with other women leaders to accomplish missions and goals.

 

Ann is committed to public service; she is a consumer advocate and attorneyShe was elected to the City Council on November 4, 2014 where she garnered 54% of the vote in a field of seven candidates and avoided a runoff election.

 

Ann Kitchen, an attorney, graduated from the University of Texas’ School of Law in 1986.  She began her career with the Texas Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division.  In 2000, Ann was elected to the Texas State House of Representatives, District 48.  Her time in the Legislature is best remembered by the contributions she made to HB 1156, expanded women's access to health care; and SB 11, the Medical Records Privacy Act.

 

Prior to her election to the State Legislature, Ann Kitchen's experience included managing the health care regulatory group of Price Waterhouse Coopers.  She also served as a policy adviser to the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.  Ann has been involved with efforts for a more affordable Austin, protection of children, women’s health, strengthening public schools, and protecting Austin neighborhoods.  Ann continues to be active on the local, state, and national levels to improve access to quality health care.

 

After leaving the Legislature, Ann Kitchen was named Executive Director of the Indigent Care Collaboration, a regional collaboration of public and private hospitals, clinics, MHMR, public health departments, university medical departments, and medical societies responsible for providing care for uninsured individuals.

 

Most recently, Ann served as the Vice Chair on the City of Austin Charter Revision Committee before her election to the Austin City Council.  In her spare time Ann enjoys tap dancing, biking, kayaking, walking, swimming, and yoga.

 

This will be an interesting session that you will not want to miss.

·         The luncheon is held at the Austin Woman’s Club, 708 San Antonio Street

·         Networking begins at 11:30 a.m. and lunch will be served at 11:45 a.m.

·         The program starts at noon and concludes at 1:00 p.m.

·         The cost is $20 for EWTG members and $25 for guests.

·         Please note there is plenty of free parking.  While there is signage around the building about parking fees, the  parking is free to EWTG during the luncheon time frame.
