EWTG welcomes Ray Anne Evans, Executive Director of the Breast Cancer Research Center (BCRC), as the luncheon keynote speaker on October 24. Ray Anne began her commitment to the BCRC as a volunteer after her own breast cancer diagnosis in 1997 at the age of 41.  At that time she was a PHR certified, human resources manager at an Austin Haworth office furniture dealership.  She was hired at the BCRC in January of 2004 and over the years she has navigated hundreds of women and their caregivers.  Prior to being named the Executive Director, she was the Director of Client Services.  Her main responsibilities included managing the Client Services team that consists of 5 Certified Patient Navigators and the Intake Coordinator as well as determining gaps in services and creating programs to meet the needs of our community.

Ray Anne herself is a Certified Patient Navigator through the Freeman Institute and has attended Cancer Guides training through the Center for Mind Body Medicine. In addition, she is a member of the Academy of Oncology Nurse Navigators as an advocate and has attended the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium multiple times. She also attends tumor conferences at St. David’s Medical Center. She has attended seminars on Palliative and Hospice Care, Dying and Grieving: Cultural and Ethical Considerations. She is a Project LEAD¹ graduate.

¹ Project LEAD is the National Breast Cancer Coalition’s premier science training program that has created a revolution in the world of breast cancer research and public policy. The courses prepare graduates to engage in the wide range of local and national forums where breast cancer decisions are made. Project LEAD graduates bring an educated consumer perspective and critical thinking skills to the important issues and controversies in breast cancer.

If you would like to join EWTG members and friends for this insightful and dynamic program, register here.  The luncheon is held at the Austin Woman’s Club, 708 San Antonio Street (ample free parking off Nueces). Networking begins at 11:30 a.m. and lunch will be served at 11:45 a.m. The program starts at noon and concludes at 1:00 p.m.  The cost is $20 for EWTG members and $25 for guests.
