  Shannon Kelley

  2010 Woman of the Year

Each year EWTG is proud to recognize a member as the Woman of the Year. This is a woman who has made a difference in EWTG, her profession and her community through life-long learning and her support of other women.  The 2010 Woman of the Year nominees were Shannon Kelley and Mary Castleberry.   They are both outstanding examples of leadership and service to others and EWTG is a better organization for their participation.

Shannon Kelley, a long-time EWTG member and former President, was named the 2010 EWTG Woman of the Year at EWTG's 24th Annual Professional Development Conference on November 22, 2010. In a packed ballroom of over 800 participants, the announcement came via video tribute to Shannon’s many accomplishments in her work, community, and EWTG.   Shannon was presented with an engraved crystal award celebrating her selection.

A member of EWTG for ten years, Shannon has been very involved in carrying out the work and mission of the organization.  Before becoming EWTG president in 2009, her previous experience included a total of five different board positions and service on nine different EWTG committees.  It was stellar preparation for leading the board.

Since 2008 Shannon has been a Court Appointed Special Advocate of Travis County.  CASA promotes and protects the best interest of children who have been abused or neglected, by training volunteer advocates to oversee their well-being.   Shannon serves as the Guardian Ad Litem to siblings to represent their best interest in court and ultimately to find them a permanent and loving home.

Currently employed by the Department of Information Resources, she works as a contract manager where her duties include negotiation of highly complex technology contracts worth more than $100 million annually.

Shannon epitomizes the EWTG values that represent the best of who we are as women and as leaders. In everything she does, she maintains a positive outlook and great sense of humor.
