Affiliate - Brazos Valley
Share |

In September 2010, several women in the Bryan-College Station area met to discuss the possibility of forming a Brazos Valley Affiliate chapter of the EWTG. The concept was met with enthusiasm and energy. The decision was made at that meeting to proceed with formation of the Brazos Valley Affiliate, with 15 founding members.

We continue to grow in membership and our activities provide women engaged in public service in the Brazos Valley with opportunities to gain knowledge and experience, and to meet other women involved in public service. We have access to a host of enriching events such as monthly luncheons featuring engaging speakers, brown-bag mini courses, and community service opportunities, as well as the Annual Professional Development Conference in Austin. We are looking forward to a successful year in expanding our local membership affiliation, attending a few of the Austin Luncheons, and gaining more insight into what other affiliates are doing and how we can make a difference in our community.

So many women give of themselves to those around them. To our significant others, our jobs, our kids, and other family members we are often the support for our circle of influence, asking very little in return. Often times we hold off being concerned about our personal health until we have something to be concerned about. Take a proactive step to your health, and come listen to Lesley Ward from the City of Bryan, talk about women's health on Wednesday, February 20th from 12-1pm. Lunch will be provided.

See you there!

EWTG-BV hosted a tailgate for members, family, and friends before the Texas A&M vs New Mexico State football game.  We had a wonderful grill chef, Ponch Gonzales, Husband of member Vicki Gonzales, who grilled up burgers and hot dogs for our group. We had a great time with music, games and getting to know our tailgate neighbors. We stood out in the crowd with our bright red shirts amongst a sea of maroon, but we had a great time, made some wonderful memories, and hopefully started a new annual event.
