Understanding Non-Verbal Communication – A Powerful Tool for Success

Dorothy (Dotty) Traska-Davis

It's well known that good communication is the foundation of any successful relationship, be it personal or professional. It's important to recognize, though, that it's our nonverbal communication—our facial expressions, gestures, eye contact, posture, and tone of voice—that speak the loudest.

Non-Verbal Communication has its very own language which is often felt but rarely perceived accurately unless you pay specific attention to its wordless signals. It is a language not normally taught in our best Colleges, Universities or Business Schools but it is a key tool for understanding people and their motivations and for giving us an awareness of how to change any false impressions others have formed about us.

The presentation would be an inter-active workshop format where the participants learn about non-verbal communication. They also experience hands-on activities that are helpful in detecting the differences in various types of non-verbal communication and demonstrating how this ultimately affects personal and business relationships.

Dorothy (Dotty) Traska-Davis is an Executive Coach, Consultant and Seminar Leader. She specializes in non-verbal communication, presentation skills, image and personal fashion for corporations and individuals. Dotty’s clients gain the confidence of knowing they present themselves in the way they want to be seen in the world.

She has more than 20 years of experience, beginning when she conducted one of the first known scientific research regarding non-verbal communication and dress as it relates to confidence and success. This was accomplished while working toward her MBA, managing a household as a full-time, single mother, and owning her first business. She has been on the Larry King Show, interviewed by major wire services, and approached by a major publisher to write a book regarding her findings.

Dotty currently conducts workshops and seminars for civic groups and businesses, and also schedules individual private consultations. Her aim is to assist individuals in recognizing their best qualities and finding ways to enhance the image they project through non-verbal communication. The by-product of this is increased self-confidence, greater personal and business success, and an improvement in the ability to connect with others in an authentic way. She is married and living in Bryan, Texas.
