Shalyn Bridges

Bridges Etiquette & Academics

Shalyn Bridges is an experienced law librarian specializing in legal and legislative research and government documents, and a certified paralegal certified by NALA - The Paralegal Association. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in politics and history from Cornell College in Iowa, and a Master of Library and Information Science from The University of Texas at Austin. Ms. Bridges is also an experienced etiquette instructor certified by the American School of Protocol. She organized the pilot project for the well-regarded Caswell House Etiquette Class in downtown Austin, teaching children skills for presenting themselves positively and confidently, and strategies for dealing with difficult situations and people (bullies). She continues to teach etiquette at the Caswell House, as well as programs for children and adults in Austin and neighboring communities.

You've heard it said, "you never get a second chance to make a first impression," and when it comes to job interviewing, making a good impression is just the beginning. If you've been interviewing but not getting job offers, let's talk! This session will focus on job interviewing, and help you see yourself from the perspective of potential employers so you can make the best impression possible. For more than a decade, Shalyn Bridges has been part of the hiring team at her agency, and through her family business, Bridges Etiquette & Academics, she has helped children and adults put their best food forward when they step out into the world. In this session, she will combine her knowledge and experience in the public and private sectors and share with us her strategies for putting our best foot forward when we step out into the job market.

The program begins at noon; lunch is served at 11:45 a.m. To help you make the most of your lunchtime, EWTG will have pizza from Eastside Pies, fresh green salad, a drink and dessert for $10 per person, or you can bring your own lunch. Pizza will be served from 11:45 a.m. to noon. The program begins at noon and ends by 1:00 p.m. The mini-course is held at the Carver Library, 1161 Angelina St, Austin - view map.

Cancellations must be received 48 hours prior to the event to receive a refund for pizza orders. Acceptable forms of payment onsite are cash or check. For information, contact EWTG by email, ewtg@ewtg.org or by telephone, 512-220-4298.
