Featuring

Jon Heining

Texas Legislative Council , General Counsel

Have you ever worried about or worse, been called out for, something you said on social media that you thought was confidential? What can you say, who can see it or get access to it, and what would be better said only person-to-person?

Social media allows us to interact with each other in ways that were impossible only a decade ago. The use of social media is also fraught with ethical and legal peril. Jon Heining will discuss some issues involving the use of social media in our private and public lives and provide some pointers about how to potentially use social media better.

Jon Heining is the general counsel for the Texas Legislative Council, a nonpartisan legislative support agency. In that role, he provides legal support to the council for administrative, contractual, and personnel issues. He also drafts or reviews several categories of legislative documents. He lives and plays in Austin, Texas, with his beloved wife, their children, and their dog.

Jon obtained his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Auburn University, a Master of Laws from the University of New South Wales, and his Juris Doctorate from The University of Texas School of Law.

Earlier this year we heard why we should become conversant with social media and how to use it. Now become knowledgeable about the laws about the use and misuse of social media.

The luncheon is held at the Austin Woman’s Club, 708 San Antonio Street, Austin, TX 78701 - view map (ample free parking located at the rear of the building at Nueces & 10th Street). Networking begins at 11:30 a.m. and lunch will be served at 11:45 a.m. The program starts at noon and concludes at 1:00 p.m. The cost is $20 for EWTG members and $25 for guests.  Remember to register early for the luncheon in anticipation of a “full house,” thank you!

Cancellations must be received forty-eight (48) hours prior to the event to receive a refund or for your registration fee to be waived.

You must log in to receive member lunch prices.   Online registration will end at 10:00 AM Monday, August 21, 2017.
